Review:
In what is a prequel to the other X-Men films, this tells the story of the origins of Professor X (James McAvoy) and Magneto (Michael Fassbender), who are still friends in the 1960’s when the US is in the darkest part of the Cold War with Russia. But despite the friendship, they see the role of mutants in a very different way. Xavier sees a world where mutants live peacefully among the “normal” people, while Magneto sees a war brewing between those with powers and those without, something we see in the later films. But both come together when Dr. Schmidt (Kevin Bacon), an ex-Nazi scientist who wants to create a mutant army of killing machines and his assistant Emma Frost (January Jones) threatens to push both superpowers to the brink, leading to a missile crisis between the two nations. Knowing that they will need more than themselves to fight, the two forego their issues and search out a train a group of young mutants who can assist them in defeating Schmidt, who is now a sociopathic playboy named Sebastian Shaw in Las Vegas, where he is amassing his own violent mutants. Review:
The Hangover Part II continues a little while after the events of the first film. It seems that Stu, who was going to marry Heather Graham’s character in the first one, had a change of heart and they broke up. In this one, he has a new flame Lauren (Jamie Chung) with whom he sets a date to be married. Fearful though that his pre-wedding process will go awry like Phil’s did in Las Vegas, he opts for a more traditional brunch rather than a crazy bachelor party. And since it’s a calm event that couldn’t possibly go wrong, Lauren leaves the wolf pack (Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms, and Justin Bartha) in charge of her 16 year old brother Teddy. But when they wake up in Bangkok, they don’t know how they got there or where Teddy is. They must find him and get back before the wedding or heads will role, most likely Stu’s. Read more…

Review:
The Fountain of Youth, the legendary spring that holds eternal life, is the destination in this latest installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean series. You may remember that Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) stole Barbosa’s map at the end of the third movie and has presumably been looking for the fountain since. But he’s not the only one. The Spanish, Captain Barbosa (Geoffrey Rush) who now works for the English Crown and Blackbeard (Ian McShane), the most feared pirate ever are all on a quest. But only one man really knows where it is and that is Sparrow, and when he runs into the beautiful and cunning Angelica (Penelope Cruz) he is shanghaied to lead her to it. The question is who will be able to get through mermaid waters, procure the proper requirements, and drink from the waters? Read more…

Review:
Priest, a film based on a Korean comic book, tells the dark tale of a warrior who is living in a post-apocalyptic society where vampires and humans exist, but not peacefully. They have warred for centuries and during the last big war, the vampires were thought to have been killed off. But people lived in huge walled cities run by the Church, who got control of the population in order to “protect” it’s citizens. When a warrior priest (Paul Bettany) who has been living a normal a life as possible under the radar has a vision that the vampires are returning, he is told by the head of the Church (Christopher Plummer) that he must never say what he has seen and threatens to take away his life if he were to reveal the secret. But when the priest’s daughter (Lily Collins) is taken by the vampires, he has no choice but to forego his previous existence and go on a quest to save her against the vampires. With help from a former warrior priestess (Maggie Q) and a wasteland sheriff, who is dating his daughter (Cam Gigandet), the priest must face many dangers to get back that which has been taken.
