After Paul (Rainn Wilson) loses his wife and he and his son TJ (Devin Brochu) are grieving her death, a strange guy named Hesher (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) takes up refuge in their garage. He is long haired, tattooed and a wild child with a penchant for loud music and porn. But still they cannot see throwing him out, even though he wasn’t even invited. Why? In Norse Mythology, there is a god of thunder who uses his hammer to stomp out his enemies. Thor (Chris Hemsworth) is his name and he is a powerful immortal whose arrogance gets him into trouble and when his actions start a war among the ancients, he is cast out of Asgard to the modern day mortal realm, where Odin (Anthony Hopkins) hopes he will learn humility. While there, he meets Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) who finds him battered from his fall to Earth. Her team, along with Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings) and their mentor Dr. Selvig (Stellan Skarsgard) want to find the gateway for which he came from as a matter of science. In Thor’s absence on Earth, however, there is a power struggle in Asgard when Odin falls into a deep sleep and only Thor can bring peace back to the kingdom. In an age long ago, two brothers (Danny McBride, James Franco) lived in the castle of a kingdom on the verge of destruction. But even with the problems, Fabious (Franco) is going to wed the beautiful BellaDonna (Zooey Deschanel). But before their marriage can proceed, she is kidnapped by the evil and powerful wizard Leezar (Justin Thereox), which fancies her for himself, thus depriving the kingdom and her husband-to-be of the wedding. Fabious, who is brave and courageous, not to mention experienced at this sort of thing decides to take out after her, but the king realizes it’s really a job for two and tells the lazy, womanizing, beer swilling brother Thaddeus (McBride) that he must accompany his sibling on the quest or face the consequences of banishment.
